Celebrated our anniversary with two nights in the Rinehart Cottage at the Cabbage Key Inn. Cabbage Key is only accessible by water – there are no cars or stores other than the hotel restaurant and marina gift shop. So we brought along a few munchies and drinks (water as well – since the island uses well water). It was a perfect place to disconnect from the world and reconnect with each other.

My girlfriend and i stayed in the Tarpon Cottage this past weekend to get away for my birthday. We have been here many times for lunch but never have stayed until now. The weather was terrible but that is beyond the control of the great staff. Everyone from making our reservation, the dock master, restaurant & bar staff, house keeping to the owners were all great. The cottage was perfect & only steps away from our private dock.

Amazing retreat away from the hustle and bustle of life! Took my SO for a surprise bday weekend and it couldn’t have been better! We stayed in the “inn” and felt like it was our own home. We were greeted every morning by name by the most friendliest staff ever! They packed us a lunch on ice for a wonderful kayak trip to cayo costa private beach for the day. Dolphins followed behind our kayaks as we travelled between the keys.

Stayed in the “Rinehart Cottage” which has been beautifully refurbished and is extremely comfortable, peaceful, quiet, just what I had hoped for. The entire staff was excellent from check in to check out. the food was fantastic, everyone was friendly and although we have visited several times before this was one of my most excellent visits. Special thanks to Jen and Jessica our waitresses, Becky at the Bar, and Rhonda for check-in/check-out and special attention. Highly recommended and I can’t wait to come back again. Love love live it All

My husband and I just returned from a two night stay at the Dollhouse cottage. We rented a boat on Pine Island and for us, that was the ideal way to enjoy this and the surrounding Islands. I would definitely recommend that only for experienced boaters (the waters are very shallow in spots and it’s a bit tricky to navigate if you’re not from the area). Otherwise, you can rent a small skiff or kayak at the Inn to explore as well. The food was fantastic and the service was excellent. We were pleasantly surprised with how nice the interior of the dollhouse was (they don’t post interior pics on the web site). Nice living area and very comfortable bed. Large flat screen TV in the bedroom. Great walking trail around the Island. This is certainly for those that like the laid back, quieter vacation. We had a boat and our books and that was all we needed.

We just returned from 3 great days at Cabbage Key … We checked into one of the rooms in the Inn. Our room was extremely clean, the bed and linens perfect – – very quaint, albeit tiny. We knew that the room would have no TV so, we brought our lap top so that we could watch Netflix. We spent three (3) days boating and visiting Cayo Costa (a State Park Island only reachable by boat – – bring your beach chairs) and Boca Grande to the north. The beaches on the Gulf side of Cayo Costa are a must see. The Cabbage Key staff were very friendly. They are like family.

I found Cabbage Key online and booked two nights. The food, staff and accommodations were amazing! Not stuffy, but laid back where everybody knows your name! Loved every minute of it. Booked a room in the Inn but they upgraded us to the Rinehart Cottage which was fantastic. Clean and everything we needed. Watched the Gopher Tortoises from our screen porch, walked the trails on the island. Wrote the first two chapters of the book I’ve been saying I would write someday! Would go back in a heartbeat.

… But, this is where it becomes a challenge to review the lodging as it feels like I am sharing a secret that I shouldn’t be sharing (that staying on the island is awesome) and because I kind of want to keep it to myself! … We stayed in the Tarpon Cottage for four nights– a wonderful, light, bright, simple but very clean two bedroom cottage which included a well equipped kitchen. We peeked into the Dollhouse and the Cabbage Patch and found both of these to also be just as clean and comfortable. We could sit inside in the living room, on the screened porch or out on the dock and watch the water, sunsets and the boats and dolphins go by. What more could you want!? … The island is wonderful to explore and kept very natural – with birds and other critters in abundance … Communication/booking with the Cabbage Key staff was easy and helpful as it was with Island Girl Charters and Pine Island Taxi which made it easy and convenient to get to Cabbage Key from the airport. A special shout out to Tim and Brian on the boat who were really informative and friendly. We can’t wait to go back and hope to make it a yearly event!

…this is not your spot. If your looking for a memorable little burger joint like no other in a location like no other, this is your spot. Never stayed in the cabins but they look great. I’m always tempted to ditch the family for a week of solitude…..Hemingwayesq I guess. Love this place.
