We suggest bringing a flashlight and all of your supplies for your stay with us as there is no general store on the Island.
Fishing & Boating
Our waters are world-renown for spectacular sport fishing. Whether your choice is fly, spin or plug, there are plenty of opportunities nearby. We can provide names & phone numbers of local guides you can contact to arrange a charter or we can arrange for a skiff if you want to try the flats and mangroves on your own. Game fish include speckled sea trout, redfish, snook, shark and the magnificent silver king.

Nature & Wildlife
Walk our nature trails and meet the wildlife the way nature intended. Signs identify our flora and fauna. As you explore our island you’ll discover the natural beauty that we love so much. Leave the stress at home while immersing yourself in our place. In the water, on the land, or in the air, there is always something to discover. Watch for an osprey eating a fish or an eagle soaring overhead. Anhinga and cormorants dive for dinner. Pelicans fill their beaks in loud splashes. One can kayak to The Tunnel over on the island of Cayo Costa.
**For the safety and protection of the island’s wildlife, drone use is not permitted on or around Cabbage Key. Our island is home to a variety of birds and native species that can be easily disturbed by aerial devices. We appreciate your understanding and help in preserving the natural beauty and habitat that make Cabbage Key so special.
Night Blooming Cereus
Our island is home to many wonderful things, but few come close to the Night Blooming Cereus.
Beaches
Cayo Costa is a barrier island immediately to our west. It is only accessible by boat so its six miles of pristine beach offer unspoiled beauty. We can arrange a beach experience you will forever remember. We’ll pack a delicious box lunch and give you easy directions for you to find that special spot. Wonder at the endless variety of driftwood and vegetation; watch birds soar overhead and work the surf line. Perhaps see a dolphin breach, a tarpon roll or a ray jump clear of the gulf. Enjoy… you may not see another person all day.
Water Tower
Climb our water tower and look west for the Green Flash as the sun sets over the Gulf of Mexico. The view of the Gulf of Mexico on one side and Pine Island Sound on the other is magnificent.
Gift Shop
Located at the Marina, our Gift Shop is the place for that perfect souvenir. We carry a large selection of tee shirts, hats, sweatshirts, UPF shirts, and gifts for the whole family. You’ll want several special mementos for yourself… and don’t forget those at home.
Cabbage Key Creamery and Outfitters
Located by the Water Tower, Cabbage Key Outfitters is your go-to for coastal-inspired men’s, women’s, and kids’ clothing, gifts, and accessories. Located within Outfitters is our charming ice cream shop, which serves up Love Boat Ice Cream, fresh-made waffle cones, and coffee delights.
