Dining at Cabbage Key

Located in the Old House, our “Open-Air” restaurant serves breakfast, lunch and dinner 365 days a year. Join us for your next meal or visit our sister resort, Tarpon Lodge, a historic Old-Florida resort located on Pine Island.

The main room is nestled among live cuban laurels dripping with moss. Previous visitors have taped thousands of one-dollar bills to every surface. Ask your server for a black marker and tape to add yours to the collection.

The front room is the old porch with a view of the marina and sound. Look around at antique fishing gear, classic Cabbage Key photographs and replicas of tarpon, snook and other game fish that make our waters world famous.

Known by many as “the bar with all the money on the walls”, the Cabbage Key bar has been serving up drinks to boaters for over 60 years. With active fire places, original hardwood floors and Cypress walls, the bar and the formal dinning room make up the other two dining locations.

  • One check per table. Parties of 20 or more, one check for the entire group. No Exceptions.
  • Sorry, in consideration of the large amount of natural wildlife on the island, no pets other than service animals are allowed on the premises.

“Yummy Cheeseburger in Paradise!”

What a beautiful walking island off the beaten path. We had lunch at the Cabbage Key Restaurant and had to have the popular cheeseburger and potato salad. The burger was fresh, thick, hot and juicy. The potato salad is made from scratch with an excellent flavor. The decor is covered by signed dollar bills, dating back decades if not a century. Fun atmosphere, nice walking trails around the restaurant. Don’t miss the old water tower behind the building, offers a great birds eye view for photos. A must see when in Fort Myers area.

“Cabbage key inn”

We can’t say enough about our lunch experience at the cabbage key inn. First was a great boat trip over to cabbage key from captiva. Once on the island, we were greeted by Michelle, she brought us up the hill in a golf cart. Michelle was very sweet, we hope one day to see her in Texas. The food was great, cheeseburgers are delicious (in paradise) . My mahi mahi was delish, my husband enjoyed a Ruben. Our servers were Andrew and Carey, we received wonderful service.

We took our new boat on its first trip out to Cabbage Key. We finally got to have our cheeseburger in Paradise! Great food, Marcie was awesome! We are excited to bring friends and family for a visit! See you again soon!

“Lunch by Launch”

My friend and I traveled by boat to the Cabbage Key Restaurant for lunch several days ago for the second time in the past month. The setting is gorgeous and may well include observation of the indigenous gopher tortoise. One may also climb up the observation tower look for a long look around Port Charlotte Harbor. It is a beautiful scene! We experienced excellent food and superb service from Rebecca! She was our waitress both times and was friendly, efficient and stopped by more than once to see if we needed anything. Is this where Cheese Burger in Paradise references? That’s the rumor so of course I bought the cheese burger hat! Would I return? Would I recommend The Cabbage Key Restaurant to a friend or interested travelers? Of course! You won’t regret it. It’s old Florida at its best. And… Check out the hats!

Beautiful Island, fantastic Food, especially the dinners, great nature walk and fun rental accommodations and Attentive Staff. Sunrise and Sunset stunning. Unique Bar with dollar bills hanging all over that are donated to a charity. Very unique experience.

Beautiful island destination. Excellent dockage. Restaurant is exceptional with a great wait staff. We had lunch and ordered the shrimp salad, and I had the triple tail over rice and beans. This chef knows how to cook fish! Our waitress, MARCIE, was fantastic! she made us feel welcomed and hoped that we would come back.

“Stopped in to duck the weather”

This place is a quant Nature Paradise. My wife and son stayed the night to ditch the weather chasing us from stern. It was better than I expected. The staff was very friendy, helpful, and genuine. We were a little early for dinner so we had drinks and a grilled cheese sandwich for my son. We went to our cottage, let me say the cottage felt like I was in a place I could stay for weeks to just unwind and become creative. We went to dinner, and the dining room is a window view of what seemed like a rainforest. I asked the chief to make my Grouper with a New Orleans flair, he successfully took my taste buds to Burbon street. I would recommend #Cabage Key to anyone that likes Southern charm and hopitality.

“Dinner and fabulous Hospitality”

We had dinner at the on-sight restaurant. The meals were out of this world. We had the grouper and triple tail. Katie B. made us feel at home the second we walked in to the place. it was off season, we experieance excellent service, we also had time to talk to the staff. They were so ‘Chill’, whatever we wanted they would accommodate. Chef Pete came to our table to make sure our meal was what we expected. The food, the staff, the experience was so good we just went back the second night and their hospitality was just as good as the night before. These people love their jobs and it was evident to us. Josh behind the bar, Katie B. as the waitstaff, Chef Pete hit a homer on our 2 night stay.

“Cheeseburger in Paradise, with a Swagger”

After a long haul run around Pine Island from Matlacha, we approached the calm waters and slower speed of Cabbage Key. We idled past boats and slips, and kedged the personal water crafts into the small sandy-grassy beach. Walking up the hill, we met the tortoise the children were feeding. The three of us sat at an outdoor concrete mosaic topped table. A cheery server, Kaite S, welcomed us quickly. In but a short time, the young lady-with energy abounding-delivering the famed ‘cabbage creeper.’ The slushy, sweetness was just the perfect cocktail to sip under the shade of the table umbrella … Our orders arrived; 2 cheeseburgers and a grilled fish atop greens salad. My husband and niece raved about ‘the most delicious’ hamburgers EVER. My fish was also delicious. Food proved worthy of the adventure! Cabbage key was a food oasis in the water. We ended our lunch with 2 desserts, a typical key lime pie, and a chocolate-carpel-sweet-frozen-yummy thing. We rolled down the hill, after all that food, to the t shirt shop for a souvenir (great stocking stuffers) , before the water ride back. We are looking forward to returning, hoping Katie S. will be there, too.

“Cabbage Key Restaurant – Excellent Food & Service”

Took a boat from Pine Island and went to the restaurant for lunch on 8/12. Shrimp salad was excellent. Party of 8 ladies who have been friends since high school received awesome service. Our server Rebecca was outstanding. She even took time to take a few group pictures for us. Management was helpful as well and very attentive. Thank you Rebecca for such a great day.
